What supplements are safe to take for those training with Type 2 diabetes ? Are any specifically recommended ? and are any definitley to be avoided ?
I am 47, have type 2 diabetes, and wish to train for fitnes, and to lose fat and build muscle.
I take 2 x 500mg Metformin (metformin hydrochloride) daily for the diabetes.

eating to much???

hi first time post, im a little overweight and could do with shifting some fat from my belly. training goin well at the gym doing a 4 day split. general diet - breakfast oats and a protein shake, mid morning 50g rice & chicken breast, dinner 50g rice & chicken breast, protein shake after gym, tea meat with veg and a protein shake at bedtime. i dont seem to be losing weight or gaining much muscle. any advice would be good, thanks.

toning up

Hi, Iv just come out of hospitalwhere iv been for 2 monthes. I was quite underweight and have now gained a stone and am back up to healthy, however my body fat has shot from 10% to 23% and i now have a belly! I was wondering what the best way was to tone up this mess, without loosing too much weight on the way?

BMI value and muscle

I recently went into hospital to gain some weight as I had dropped to dangerous levels, however my BMI was ‘questionable’ because it seemed to high for what I looked like, despite being about 16. I realise I had a fair bit of muscle as Id been weight training for about 6 months so I would weigh more, so is there a way of figuring out what ur BMI would be if the muscle wasnt there? I weighed about 6 stone, im 5′2, and my body fat was 9%, and muscle 50% according to my scales.

help with rowing?

hi i train from home i have a rowing machine but unsure of good ways to train on it. iv tried doing interval training but don`t seem to burn many calories? where as if i do 45 min`s none stop i burn more calories but i`ts still only around 350 calories & i want to burn a`lot more. up to 800/1000! help would be great!!

Confused!

Hi all,

I need a bit of advise as i seem to have come across many articles stating different ideas. a bit of advise from people who are in routines would be great!

basically, i am a stone overweight and need to trim down. in the process, i want to tone up but not bulk up mu muscle too much.

I thought the best way to do this before was with lots of cardio. i have since read cardio is a waste of time and i should focus my energy more on lifting weights. this is ok but i dont know how to use many of the machines and would just like some simple exercises to follow that would help me.

would anyone recommend doing weights on Mon, Wed, Fri then doing cardio on 2 other days, say tues and Sat?

Any advise or routines would be greatly appreciated guys as i am motivated but dont know where to start!
