What can I do?
Hi Guys I really hope you can help me with this. Ive been on before but never got around to working out or anything.
Its been along time since I did some serious exercise and my diet is awful- fatty fried foods, chocolates, the lot! I was walking the other day and was losing my breath, Im only 19 and still thin but its a disgrace how unfit I am.
I was hoping some of you could recommend to me ways in which I can change my diet, what I should and should not be eating. Could you recommend any exrecises that I should do. I think Ill join a gym to sort this out. I want to get back in shape, I used to be a pretty good runner and would like to get back to that. I have a very weak body and Im very self conscious about it. What would you suggest I do to BULK UP, so that I can have a six pack and broader shoulders and a much better physique?

Dude,
You realising your diet is poor and you need to do something about it is the start believe me. Well done on that score and just make sure you keep up the will power to want to change it.
The first thing to do is go to your cupboards and fridge and remove anything that you know is bad or that has a high sugar/salt or saturated fat content. Ingredients are listed in priority order. The ingredient at the top of the list is what the food is mainly made up off, so look for glucose etc for a high sugar content… The key is if you think it is bad, it most probably is and so sling it.
The next step is to buy in your new diet for life. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg, wholemeal bread, wholemeal pasta, brown rice, chopped tomatato’s, pasata, chicken breast, turkey breast, pork chops (limited to one/two a week), , olive oil, balsamic vinegar, light margarine spread, ryveta, tins of tuna and any fresh fish if you like it.
People will say buying fresh fruit and veg is expensive every week and healthy foods are a rip off, but thats a load of bull. How much do you spend on booze a week ? how much on clothes ? how much on going out or undertaking your hobby ? Just start to prioritise your life. By spending an extra £30 a month you will probably live another 10 to 20 years. I think that is worth it, dont you ?
Make meals such a pasta dishes (with chicken or tuna and tomato) / curry with brown rice / pork chops and steamed vegetables etc… You can find ingredients to any healthy meal by looking on google. Give them a whirl.
You might feel like cr*p at first as your body is detoxing and you are having sugar cravings, but go cold turkey and stick with it and after 2 to 3 weeks you will start to feel healthy and energetic. Then start to think about exercising at least 3 times a week.

If you do go cold turkey on all the crap food which i agree with the previous poster the magic number is 21 days- after this cravings should subside.
A few basic rules: Eat lean protein with every meal, Eat Veg with every meal, Eat every 2-3 hours, Eat good fats- extra virgin olive oil coconut oil etc, eat fruit not chocolate. dont drink any calorie containing beverages. If you need a quick snack have a protein shake.
that should set you on the right track.
