Are leg exercises neccessary?

Hi all, first time post so if im wrong dont hold back, i can take it!
i have just started following the 3 day a week plan. my aim is to tone up and not put on too much muscle. The first days workout is all really on the legs and i am unsure if this is needed for my goal? do you think it would be more beneficial to me if i done the same exercises for 2 days so i could encorporate more of the upper body workouts?
is eating 6 small meals a day vital aswell? i understand i need to make lifestyle changes because at the moment i only eat 2 meals a day. i understand i need to eat more regularly to increase metabolism but could i just increase it to 4?

Thanks all for your help,

    HI,

I certainly suggest keeping the leg workouts!
nothing is worse than seing someone with a huge, toned upper body and a pathetic pair of legs! It looks stupid and is completly un practical! and the ladies also love a good set of legs ;)

6 meals is not vital per-say, i would promote this way of eating 100% but i would not lie to you, some guys achieve great results off just 3 meals!, but these guys are few and far between!

so i would suggest 5-7 small meals aday, each containing around 20-30g of protein and 50-60 grams of carbs for the beginner.

    best of luck
    chris

If you don’t train the lower body, the upper body will never grow to it’s full potential. Squats and all the variations (front, back, one leg etc.) romanian deadlifts, step ups, glute-ham raises are what you wanna be doing and even the leg press for the taller person may actually be better than the sqaut. Isolations are shit for legs in my opinion.
