shoulder problem

I have been going to the gym for a few yrs now but I have always had a problem with shoulder press. My left shoulder tends to click on the way down when pressing any sort of weight (light or heavy). It seems the heavier I go more the more pain I feel and the louder the click. I have tried warming up with lighter weights first or even doing a different kind of shoulder workout before I get to the press. This prblem is becoming frustrating because while pressing a medium weight say with dumb bells my right arm can manage 10-12 reps no problem but the left feels weak and tends to struggle at about 6 reps. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone had a similar problem?

It may be assymetrical development that will sort itself out. It’s rare that everyone’s body parts are as strong as one another. When I first started my right arm was always slightly bigger than my left, so I used to train my left slightly harder working with isolation movements to make it catch up. As for the pain I get a clicking sometimes in my right shoulder when I rotate it. You may have a joint problem, as clicking usually happens when there is a loss of synovial fluid at the joints so the bones rub together and get inflammed which may be causing you pain. Go and tell your doctor and see what he has to say. Or else try exercising your shoulders another way for a while and come back to it in a few weeks to see if the problem continues.

Yes defo go ask your doctor, it may be a inbalance between your anterior and posterior delt, often the anterior is much bigger as it gets used in one hell of alot of exercises! Hope that helps a bit
