48 hrs should be long enough for muscles to recover from a workout, in some cases, especially after a very intense workout, longer rest may be needed. If your muscles are still sore by the time your next workout comes around then you should not train them. I see you do not mention any lower body routines in your email? Unless you have injuries that do not permit you to train your lower body, it is imperative that you have a sound and complete workout program, training all body parts.

Ok - here is something you won’t hear very often. Train through any soreness that you have. Will increase your ability to recover faster. But, and this is absolutley essential to avoid injury, avoid training to failure. If it can’t be helped, maybe lower the weight.
